Namrata Pathak reads Betelnut City by Shalim M Hussain and a sharing by all
Shalim M Hussain is a poet and writer from the Bengali speaking Muslim community in Assam. Known as Miya he writes in English and his mother tongue. Betel Nut city is a collection of poems by Shalim where he evokes images of his village, community, family and the city through his writing
In the discussions following the reading, participants talked about poetry as a medium of activism, language and translations as tools for bridging gaps and the need for dialogues between communities through art
